About Ishaara
Prashant Issar and Anuj Shah of Stratix Hospitality have opened their first venture ""Ishaara"" in Mumbai, with restauranteur Riyaaz Amlani. The fact that our wait staff is speech and hearing impaired is secondary to the extensive Indian menu—comprising dishes from across regions. Our decor is inviting to say the least, and our restaurant is sure to win votes for looking like a cool dining space that could be in New York, Melbourne or London. An expansive menu, which attempts to represent more than just one region of India—something that a lot of Indian restaurants in the country overlook. The bhutte ki kees for instance, inspired by the famous Indore’s night market; the aloo posto seekh with its Bengali spin; the Kolhapuri pitle bharli vangi; and the chicken Malwan curry that belongs to the heart of Maharashtra. Each section and dish on the menu are marked out with a hand sign illustration, and everyone in the restaurant has their own sign names. We even have signs for everything from hello to thank you, so you don’t worry about how to communicate with your server. Immaculately trained, the staff will ask you all the basic dinner questions like “bottled or regular water?”, “shall I change your plates?” using hand gestures.
